POSITION TITLE: Clinic Admin Receptionist

DIRECT REPORT: Health Manager WAGE:   $22.52 – $28.95
ABOUT TAKLA FIRST NATION: The traditional territory of the Takla First Nation is located in North Central British Columbia and totals approximately 27,250 square kilometers. The territory is a rich environment of lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains, bordered on the west by the Skeena Mountains and on the east by the Rocky Mountains. Takla Nation is an amalgamation of the North Takla Band and the Fort Connelly Band, a union which occurred in 1959. Our traditional lands are the geographic area occupied by our ancestors for community, social, economic, and spiritual purposes. Carrier and Sekani place names exist for every physical feature and place that we occupy. Each name reflects the significance of the feature or site and today provides us with historical information to the rich history and extensive knowledge of our land and our resources.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Takla Nation is seeking a Motivated Clinic Admin Receptionist for the Takla Nation Health Clinic. Under the direction of the Health Manager, the Clinic Admin Receptionist must welcome visitors, respond to the telephone & email enquiries in a helpful & constructive manner. The receptionist must provide administrative support to the Takla Nation Health Staff (Doctors, Nurses, Administration Coordinator & Staff).  Will provide patient travel support for the First Nation Health Benefits process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to deal with others effectively, in the context of patient-centered, culturally safe and trauma-informed care./ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with Indigenous patients, families, care providers, administrative staff, and volunteers.

  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture & traditions and receptivity to continuous learning specific to the Indigenous communities to be served by this position.
  • Ability to organize work. Performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate the logistical aspects of departmental programs, such as meetings, seminars, workshops, special projects, and events.
  • Arrange and book meetings in boardrooms, off-site conference halls, and other locations; ensure the appropriate presentation equipment is there.
  • As a front-line worker, to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries, and other interactions.

Patient Travel Clerk

  • Liaise with CSFS patient travel. Work with patients to ensure travel is arranged; Maintain confidentiality. /Organize, Plan and work with other doctor offices and hospitals.
  • Ensure all information sent to CSFS is correct; Confirm appointments for patients.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to adapt to new technology.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Ability to work individually as well as a part of a team.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Superior telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Including Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in being a receptionist or equivalent.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be considered an asset but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to be flexible and meet changing priorities.
  • Good verbal and written skills including the ability to keep clear notes and action items.
