(2)Sawmill Operators

Takla Landing,BC

Takla Nation is accepting applications for sawmill operators to join our team. In this role, the sawmill machine operators operate, monitor and control automated lumbermill equipment to saw timber logs     into rough lumber.

(Saw, trim and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various size)

Responsibilities:

• Assist with sawmill projects including:
• Completing the new sawmill shelter
• Sorting and organizing lumber
• Completing ordered woodsheds
• Light maintenance work, and reporting any other required maintenance to the supervisor;
• Protecting and maintaining facilities and property, particularly in response to emergencies;
• Reporting any incidents of willful or accidental damage to the
• Reporting and potential safety or health concerns to the supervisor.
• Promoting a positive work atmosphere and communicating in a professional manner that;
• demonstrates mutual respect with community members and
• Other duties as assigned by

 

Requirements:

• Minimum one-year experience with building maintenance, construction and/or renovations;
• Must be physically fit, able to lift and carry loads of 25lbs.
• Be willing to undergo a physician’s physical examination;
• Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
• Familiarity with sawmill equipment;
• Able to work in all weather conditions;
• Demonstrated dependability as an employee;
• Demonstrated ability to work affectively and cooperatively;
• Ability to plan, schedule and priorities the workload with minimal supervision;
• Ability to work positively in a busy, demanding environment;
• A positive team player attitude and a strong willingness to
